How to Relax Before an Interview: Fun and Useful Tips

For most people, a job interview is a nerve-racking experience. Naturally, you want to do well and succeed, but this often leads to feeling nervous. Although this is completely normal, it’s much better to go into interviews feeling relaxed. Being relaxed means keeping your composure, answering questions better, and ultimately making a better impression.

But, as you might already know, it can be difficult to relax before interviews. However, this guide is here to save you. By following these fun and useful tips, not only will you be able to relax before interviews, but you might also look forward to them.

Play Games on Your Smartphone

Smartphones are great tools for calming any nerves you have. From scrolling through your social media feeds to browsing the internet, there are lots of nifty little tricks you can do to distract your mind and make yourself relax.

If you want to be really smart, try playing some mobile games. Whether you’re an Android or iPhone user, the App Store will have plenty on offer for you; from Fortnite Mobile to PUBG.

Also, you could play Australia online casino sites. Because casino games require concentration, it’s a guaranteed way to take your mind off your interview and have some light-hearted fun.

Get Some Fresh Air

Prior to your interview, make sure to get plenty of fresh air. This should drastically reduce any stress or anxiety you’re experiencing, as the fresh oxygen you’re taking in will boost your serotonin levels, making you feel happier and calmer.

To do this, you could go for a walk at a local park or (if you’re short for time) simply hang around in your backyard for 20 minutes or so.

Exercise

Moving on, let’s talk about exercise. By engaging in exercise, you distract your mind from the source you’re feeling anxious about (in this case, an interview). Also, moving your body activates your muscles and subsequently lowers muscle tension, which is great for taking the edge off any nerves you have.

Here are some exercises for you to try at home. You can do them in your living room, bedroom, or any other spacious area.

Think of Your Strengths

Positive affirmations make you feel good – especially when they’re true.

So, think carefully about your strengths and why you would benefit the company you have an interview with. By doing this, you will gain confidence, as you’re confirming to yourself why you’re good enough to do the interview in the first place.

Also, try to avoid negative thoughts about any possible weaknesses you have. Nobody is perfect, but it’s a waste of time and energy to think about what you’re not good at. Instead, only focus on your strengths.

Visualize Your Future

You might see the company as a part of your future, so by visualizing this, it will give you extra motivation to succeed. Not only that, but it will also grow your confidence. Whatever you do, though, don’t visualize yourself failing, as doing this will throw your concentration off!

Watch Funny Videos

Lastly, here’s another useful tip: watch funny videos. YouTube and Instagram are great sources for this, as well as platforms like Reddit. The more you laugh, the better you will feel, and it will ultimately become harder for your body and mind to convert back to feeling nervous.
