Online PC Games to Play with Friends

Getting together to play with friends is one of life’s simple pleasures. However, it’s not always possible for everybody to make it to games night – people start to move out of town or, for one reason or another, it’s a whole lot easier to organize an online games night instead. Not only is there no clean-up after, but there’s also no need for arguments about who is going to host and nobody has to travel either. These are some of the best games to play online with friends; they’re so good that you might cancel in-person games night altogether.

Poker

Card games have been popular for centuries; if you walked into a saloon in 19th century America then you’d find card players, and if you peeped your head into a coffee shop in 17th century Italy then you’d see the same. All you needed was a deck of cards, so it made sense that so many people enjoyed playing. Owing to this fact, there’s a huge history of card gaming and a few games that have really stood the test of time, one of which is poker. This card game is thought to have originated in Europe and slowly made its way over to America, where its popularity exploded around the turn of the 19th century. Nowadays, you don’t even need a deck of cards to play poker as you can play online as long as you’ve got a computer and an internet connection. This makes it simple to play poker with friends as some sites have made it possible to create your own poker room and play only with the people that you invite. With your own room set up you can enjoy all the poker you like as well as the same kind of chat you’d all have in person. The only thing you’ll miss out on is knowing each others’ tells so well, but maybe that will level the playing field a little!

Pictionary

Pictionary is a party classic but, for anyone who’s not played, the rules are simple. You need to team up with at least one other player and nominate someone who is going to draw. The drawer will pick a card that will have a word on it that they have to draw. The second they start drawing, their other teammates can try to guess what word they’re trying to depict. It should go without saying that any writing is disallowed! Whilst there isn’t an official online Pictionary game, the team at Skribbl has created a great free version of the game that works specifically on the internet. Just like in the poker game, you can make your own room and invite your friends to play with you there. Room creation out of the way, you can play for as long as you like totally free of charge. An interesting option that Skribbl have incorporated is that you can also choose to play in a random room, giving you the opportunity to make a whole new bunch of friends if yours don’t happen to be around one evening.

Pokémon Go

Finally, we’re big fans of Pokémon Go here at Comfort Skillz, so it made sense to give the game a quick mention. As well as being fun to play on your own, thanks to Pokémon Go’s online connectivity, you can connect with your friends on the app too. You just need to enter map view and click on their portrait. Once you’ve done this, tap the ‘shared experience’ icon and you will be asked if you’d like to create a Group Code. Select yes and the game will generate a QR code which you can send to your friends. Once they’ve scanned it, you can all investigate as a group together!
